We’re starting to get into the festive spirit over here at the Wildcats HQ and due to popular demand we’re excited to announce our first Christmas skate party on Saturday 10th December. It will be held in the Lower Sports Hall at the Concord Sports Centre from 13:00 to 15:00. The doors are open to all skaters, parents or kids, so long as you wear your best Christmas Santa hat and sparkly jumper! The best Christmas outfit will win a prize! We’ll have music, refreshments, games and of course plenty of skating fun.
Tickets are £3 per skater and enquiries should be made via Facebook. We have some skates to loan people if you don’t have any but stock is limited so register fast!
To celebrate the success of our first kids team competing in the Cottenham invitational tournament at the beginning of September we invited our friend and local councillor Dawn Dale to present the team with a gift. Each player who joined in the fun was presented with their own club branded rucksack by Dawn to say thank you for representing the club in such a brilliant way.
For those who couldn’t play don’t worry, everyone who plays for the club this year will also get a Wildcats bag. So make sure you register your interest for the teams and train as hard as you can!
We’d like to extend a further thanks to Dawn for coming down and supporting the club once more. Your interest and support is very welcome and appreciated to all at the Wildcats Roller Hockey Club.
We have some more great news! Each year, Sheffield City Councillors have a Ward Pot that they can use to fund community groups, projects or additional services to tackle certain priorities. Our local Labour Councillors, Dawn Dale, Garry Weatherhall, and Peter Price representing the Shiregreen and Brightside Ward in the North East Area have gifted funds to Sheffield Wildcats Roller Hockey Club to support them in their continuing project of teaching local school children to roller skate and coaching them in the sport of Roller Hockey.
We’d like to raise a further and special thanks to Tom Hughes of Activity Sheffield who tirelessly helped us to secure the funding. His valued time and the councils fine generosity has enabled us to purchase new team kit which will also proudly show the Sheffield City Council logo. And as if that wasn’t enough we are also able to fund an academy day at the Concord in the near future. Our last academy day was a huge success and saw novice players from Middlesborough joining in the fun filled action. Watch this space for further information on the academy day, it should be a good one!
Lastly a huge further thank you to Councillors Dawn Dale and Gary Weatherall (pictured with Keith and the kids) for coming down to the Concord to see our talented kids being put through their paces at training last night. Our club has grown very quickly over the last twelve months and your interest and help in our development is going to be put to great use. You’re welcome back down anytime!
The Wildcats coaches would like to say a big thank you to all the kids and parents who came down and supported us earlier today. Both sessions were a massive success and it was wonderful to see so many new happy faces learning to skate for the first time!
To all the new kids and parents please feel free to come down and join the main action on a Wednesday evening. Sessions run from 18:30 to 20:00 at the Concord Sports Centre in the same hall as today. Please take a moment to register with us first so we can prepare for your child’s participation. If you have any further questions then please get in touch via the website or Facebook.
Thanks again everyone, we hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.
Due to us holding the Sheffield Children’s University Festival of Fun daytime sessions today there will be no training tonight. Normal service to our Wednesday night sessions will resume next week and continue throughout the summer.
