Official name change

A little known fact about us is that the ‘Wildcats’ part of the club was never an official part of the club name. A long overdue change was made to officially embrace the Sheffield Wildcats tag at our AGM so from now on we can officially say we are the Sheffield Wildcats. But we didn’t stop there! The club has also embraced the shift in reference to the sport. We have taken the decision to follow the lead of governing bodies in the UK and abroad by changing Roller Hockey to Rink Hockey. We’re excited at this new phase in the evolution of the Sheffield Wildcats Rink Hockey and Roller Skating Club.

NCRHA Under 13’s Cup semi final match

Tomorrow see’s our under 13’s team travel to Manchester RHC to play their Northern Counties semi final cup match against Plymouth RHC. The match is to be played after 4pm at;

Ardwick Sports Hall,
225 Stockport Rd.
Longsight,
Manchester. M12 4DY

There is a public skating session on between 2 and 4pm so feel free to get there early and have a skate around. The same can be said of any supporters who wish to cheer the team. Take your skates and have a skate!

A massive thanks should go to Manchester Roller Hockey Club for holding the match for both teams and a special mention should go to Plymouth who are making a massive journey to play the game. That’s a big commitment which we hope the young Wildcats can step up to! Remember, the final will be played the day after in Middlesborough so there’s a lot to play for! Best of luck to both teams.

Sporting Hero Award – Shiregreen Community Awards 2017

As you know we’ve been very busy over the last twelve months developing Sheffield Wildcats Roller Hockey Club, opening the doors to new players, parents and coaches. It has  been a huge success and a massive team effort from all involved. But if one person were to be singled out for their unwavered support, dedication and leadership it would be our chairman, Keith Whitton.

Keith has been involved with the Wildcats and Roller Hockey teams all over the north since his early playing days back in the 1970’s. He still plays today and dedicates his spare time to the development of our kids and seeking new opportunities for our club. So we could not be more proud that Keith won the Sporting Hero Award at the local Shiregreen Community Awards ceremony on Friday 24th February 2017.

The whole of the Wildcats family would like to congratulate Keith on his award and extend all of our thanks to those who recognised Keith for his skills, passion and endeavour in giving new opportunities to kids. He’s a worthy winner in all our eyes and we’re pleased this hasn’t gone unnoticed by the community of Shiregreen.

We have more plans afoot to build on the first twelves months success so watch this space.

Well done Keith!

NCRHA Under 11’s home tournament

This has been a massive weekend of Roller Hockey action in Sheffield. Saturday saw our under 11’s team play their home tournament at the wonderful Ponds Forge against teams from Manchester, Middlesborough, Plymouth and Spectrum. All the games were a big test for our kids but they never gave up and brought the house down with some great goals. The tournament also marked a full year of us starting the kids team sessions and its for all to see how they have improved game on game. Well done everyone, lets get ready for the next one!

We’d like to extend a big old Wildcats thank you to all the teams, coaches, parents, time keepers and referees who made it all possible. We couldn’t do it without you.
