Happy New Year to everyone! We had our first training session of the new decade last night and it was great to see so many faces new and old. January is speeding up to be a big one so thanks for all your support.
To give you a taste of what we’ve been up to recently, over the Christmas period we hosted a skate party open to all who just wanted to skate and listen to some Xmas tunes. We loved meeting some new friends from the Sheffield Roller Derby community and hope to welcome you all again soon. We also managed to squeeze in a brilliant fund raising event on the last Saturday before Christmas helping pack shoppers bags at our local Morrisons. We managed to raise a huge sum which also saw a portion donated to a local charity supported by the store. Not to mention our Christmas raffle which was another huge success. We’d love to extend a massive thank you to EVERYONE involved in all our fund raising, whether you helped organise, sell tickets, pack bags and of course kindly donated money. Your help and support is always appreciated. We can’t do any of this without the help of many.
To kick off this new year we’re excited to be able to share that Keith Whitton has again been interviewed to showcase his and all our clubs efforts to grow our sport in the Sheffield city area. After being named by Lucozade as one of their 50 top movers list for 2020, Keith was approached by the Yorkshire Post to promote what makes our club and sport so appealing to youngsters. The article is out today in print and online so please click the link for a brilliant read. Congratulations to Keith of course but I think he’d be the first to recognise these wonderful features are recognition of how great our club has developed and continues working together to create an inspiring place to be.
More to come soon!!
